Food-related movement

Preparing food from scratch involves movement. I love this way of looking at food preparation!

If you love baking, you can add movement to your baking by:
  • using a hand whisk
  • grinding your own nuts using pestle and mortar
  • grinding your own spices using pestle and mortar
  • chopping fruit (fresh or dry)
  • putting your baking utensils and ingredients high up or down low in cupboards, always with movement in mind!

If you love cooking, you can add movement by:
  • washing, drying and chopping your salads, herbs and vegetables rather than buying them peeled, pre-cut and pre-washed
  • grinding spices using pestle and mortar
  • learning to make delicious staple foods: houmous, oat milk, bread, tortilla wraps, biscuits and other snacks.

FAVOURITE RECIPES

You can also grow your own food if it appeals to you and if you have enough space and time! It gives you plenty of opportunities for squatting and hip hinging as well as reaching up and down.
Otherwise, foraging is fun too! (blackberries, rosehip, nettle, etc.)
