I am qualified to treat clients with minor and chronic musculoskeletal pain or dysfunction. Soft tissue includes tendons, ligaments, fascia, skin, fibrous tissues, fat, and synovial membranes (which are connective tissue) and muscles, nerves and blood vessels (which are not connective tissue).
I enjoy showing my clients how they can use hands-on therapy to connect to their bodies and nervous system.

ONCOLOGY MASSAGE
As an Oncology Massage Practitioner, I am very interested in movement as a way to support the body's natural healing ability. This was the subject of my final essay.
I teach corrective exercises designed to help restore your body nearer to its optimal skeletal alignment, and therefore to its natural functions. These exercises, based on movement science, help us counteract the negative impacts of a sedentary lifestyle on our bodies.
Who needs it?
One of the best things about the movement I teach is that it will help absolutely everybody. Your body can be super fit or very unfit. Your body can be 8 years old or 80. Your body can be whole or have been repaired or be in need of repair. All bodies, no matter their shape, size or ability need movement. Identifying what movements your body is getting, and what it is lacking, can be life-changing.
Why?
Our bodies have developed movement patterns and habits due to our lifestyle. Specifically, our muscles are often moving repetitively and our skeleton is held in unnatural positions. By becoming aware of these habits and working to gradually change them, we can help our body function better.
Therapeutic benefits:
IMPROVED BONE DENSITY, as the weight of your body is supported evenly by your joints (preventing uneven wear and tear)
IMPROVED MUSCULAR STRENGTH, as muscles can engage as designed (avoiding overuse and underuse)
PELVIC FLOOR HEALTH, thanks to walking with a posterior push-off (using your glutes to move you forward), which pulls the sacrum back to allow optimal length of the pelvic floor muscles
CARDIOVASCULAR HEALTH, thanks to the participation of more muscles acting as a pump for improved blood circulation
DIGESTIVE HEALTH, creating all the space needed for the organs to function optimally
INJURY PREVENTION, through an even distribution of your body weight over your joints and improved proprioception (awareness of where your body is in space)

What if…
- You woke up feeling rested…
- You could let go of muscle tension at will…
- Your breath felt easy…
- It took virtually no effort to sit upright and stand well…
- You knew exactly what to do as soon as you felt a twinge or an ache…
- Your body felt like a safe, sturdy place - rather than a burden to lug around…
- You trusted your body to help you make healthy choices rather than fighting to control its lethargy or tension... This is all possible!
