I find being outdoors in a natural environment both calming and energising.
I always feel better for spending time outside - It clears my head and relaxes my body - especially when moving parts of me that don't get to move much indoors, and I am keen for other people to experience this too.
Research has shown that walking outdoors enhances our health, especially when movement is fine-tuned to involve the feet and hips more and when unnecessary tension is identified and released.
It's not just the quantity of walking that matters in terms of health but the quality, variety and frequency.

Mindful Walk at the Chilterns Walking Festival - Saturday 18 May, 9-11am
Walk 2 - 10 February 2024
We used our senses to see, hear, touch, smell natural sights, sounds, textures and scents. Sensory stimulation is the best way to restore our nervous system to a calm state.
We walked slowly and mindfully up and down hills, noticing features of the land that called our attention and sharing our impressions. We breathed fresh, clean, cool air through our noses, noticed the moisture that filled it, listened to bird song, looked far away (great for stretching our eye muscles) and close-up (noticing green shoots through the leaf litter, feeling the softness of freshly green catkins) and enjoyed meeting a very healthy veteran cedar tree. 🙏 💚
